How do I arrange an appointment?

Taking the first step to seek therapy can be daunting. It will help you to call me for a preliminary discussion or you may prefer to e-mail me on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. If you phone me on 07766 764 417, please leave a clear message and your number and I will return your call.

We will then arrange an assessment appointment. This will ordinarily take place within the week and there is no ongoing commitment at this stage.

At the initial assessment I will discuss with you what you feel is important to explore in the therapy, how we will approach the work and what you would consider to be a positive outcome. To this end we will review the sessions regularly.

The initial assessment is an hour in duration and it is an opportunity for us to meet face to face and decide whether we would be comfortable working together. It is an opportunity for you to discuss your personal background and issues and for us to explore any queries you have in relation to therapy.

I will advise and assist you if I do not think therapy will be appropriate. If we decide to proceed we will establish the terms and arrangements which normally involves a weekly appointment.

Fees

My current fees are £70 this can be negotiated where appropriate. Payment by either cash, bank transfer or cheque.

Clinical supervision fees £70 per hour negotiable  for  students..

Location

I am based in Ramsgate. I am close to bus routes and there is local parking.

Sessions

Sessions are 50 minutes long and are regular and weekly to give continuity and security. Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time.

I will however maintain flexibility in relation to working commitments, holidays, illness etc.

Length of therapy

Therapy can last from a few months to several years. The duration of therapy will depend on the depth and nature of the presenting issues. I believe that clients know when it is suitable for the work to end and we will discuss that in the sessions.

It is sometimes helpful to take a break from therapy for a period or to have some “refresher sessions” after a formal ending. I am happy to accommodate this.

Notice period

You are free to finish long term therapy when you want but I would advise 4 sessions notice in order that we can draw deep work to a satisfactory conclusion.

Confidentiality

Everything that I am told in therapy is confidential unless I have concerns for a client’s safety or that of another individual. In this instance I would discuss my concerns with you prior to conferring with your GP or another professional.

I am required by my professional body to receive regular clinical supervision to maintain high therapeutic standards. I do not identify clients in supervision.

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and work within their Code of Ethics.
